Q. How is the time spent in your site calculated to debit my EdCredits? Is it for the logged in time or product access time?

Ans. Your time spent for product access in lampsglow is calculated to debit your EdCredits.

Q. During a class or mock test in your system, if my EdCredits expire, can I still pay and resume from the point I left?

Ans. In-case of mock test you can still continue from the point you left after the payment. In-case of LIVE TUITION continuing is not possible as those were live classes, like class rooms in school / college.

Q. Why I am not allowed to download the contents?

Ans. Download is not possible as it may lead to distribution of the same to other communities and it will lead to copyright violation. One can revise as many times as possible with in the stipulated period.

Recharge

Q. How do I find the dealer nearby my location?

Ans. All the dealer’s addresses are mentioned in our site www.lampsglow.com home page. You can search the dealers near you on clicking Dealer search in the home page or “click here to recharge your recharge” link from the home page, which will direct you to find the nearest dealer.

Q. What is EdCredits?

Ans. EdCredits are credits given to the end user through the mobile transfer matching the value of the purchase for using our lampslgow products.

Q. I don’t have a credit card? How do I recharge?

Ans. You can go to our nearest dealer whose address is given in the site and pay the amount. Dealer will recharge for you.

Q. I have cash to pay. Can I pay in any bank nearby?

Ans. Yes you can, in this case you can call our Help line at 39885533 and they will guide you with the bank account numbers.

Q. You said I can login with Rs. 199/- as payment; when I want to recharge, this does not appear; why?

Ans. Recharging starts at Rs 999/- with additional benefits. For Rs 199/- you get 7 hours @ Rs.28 per hour but when you recharge at Rs 999/- you get 50 hours instead of 35 hours that is 15 additional hours.

Q. My EdCredits have expired; Will my login-id also expire?

Ans. There is no connection between these two. Login-id will expire based on the purchase value of the EdCredits and will last till such time even if EdCredits expire earlier.

Q. I have registered and got a login id; How do I access the products now?

Ans. You have to purchase EdCredits now from the nearest dealer from your location address of which will be in the lampsglow website, you can also pay online or through Depositing money in ICICI BANK. The minimum EdCredits one has to purchase is Rs 199/- (Starter Pack).

Q. I have paid Rs. 199/- and have emptied all EdCredits; I want to recharge with another Rs.199/- but your system is not allowing. Why?

Ans. 199 Pack is only a starter pack which introduces our products and services offered, so the subsequent recharge will be in higher denomination like Rs 999/-, Rs.1499/- Here you get extra hours of usage. For example for Rs 999/- you will get 50 hrs access and for Rs 1499/- you will get 100 hrs access.

Q. Can I pay Rs. 1000/- at a time and avail EdCredits ?

Ans. Yes you can pay 999/-

Q. I am not able to contact a dealer near my location. What do I do to register?

Ans. You can register online in our site www.lampsglow.com and payment can always be made online or through banks. You will be guided by our call centre to know about bank name and account numbers. Pl. Call 39885533 with STD as prefix.

Q. I don’t have a credit card but I have a debit card. Can I pay and register?

Ans. If you have Debit card and want to transfer from the account please select online payment option and select the Debit card transfer in the online transfer page which itself turns to your bank account, it seek about your online verify by visa or master password, and you can transfer the required amount against your account to recharge, on successful transfer you account will be activated with the new EdCredits instantly.

Q. I have a net banking account. Can I use that and register?

Ans. Yes you can. If you have net banking account and want to transfer from the account please select online payment option and select the netbanking option in the online transfer page which itself turns to your bank account and you can transfer the required amount against your account to recharge, on successful transfer you account will be activated with the new EdCredits instantly.

Q. How long is my login-id valid?

Ans. Log in id is perpetual.

Q. Your Call Center number starts with 044-39885533; is it STD? How do I make a local call?

Ans. All calls are local calls for every caller. Only thing is that if the caller is from chennai then one need not use std code, for rest of the state , std has to be added , like wise for AP hyderabad callers need not use std code but for rest of the callers in Andhra ,Hyderabad STD code 040 has to be prefixed.

Q. How do you say I can easily make money as a Dealer?

Ans. Dealer will be the retail front of EdServ. It is the dealer who sells to the end user. With out investing much and again getting a 40% margin on the minimal investment. Dealer in this model is the most profitable entity.

Q. What are my margins as a Dealer?

Ans. 40% over and above of what you pay.

Q. How does a dealer recharge EdCredits to end-user without Internet access?

Ans. It is simply like mobile pre paid recharge. Dealer types the login id of the end user space amount given by the end user space product code and sends sms to the number given to him within few seconds the end user will get SMS to his/her mobile about the EdCredit details and there after he/she can start using the products through the log in.

Distributor

Q. When do I become a Distributor?

Ans. On an investment you can directly come in as a Distributor and will be assigned a pin code of your choice if it is vacant. Also you can upgrade from a Dealer to Distributor by paying and reaping a Distributor’s margin of 60%

Q. What is the difference between a Dealer and a Distributor?

Ans. a] Distributor is assigned a pin code to operate where as dealer is under the distributor in most cases. b] Distributor gets a margin of 60% to start with where as dealer will get a margin of 40% c] After few transactions distributor’s margin goes on increasing where as dealer’s margin will remain constant at 40%

Q. What are my margins as a Distributor?

Q. How does a dealer or distributor transfer EdCredits?

Ans. A Dealer or Distributor transfers EdCredits to Candidate by sending SMS to our lampsglow system with predefined set of instruction which is Userid followed by package code followed by amount(INAPS610A010 code 199) or using “Transfer credits” inside dealers or distributors lampaglow login, they can click on the link and enter the student id select the package and Quantity then click on the transfer button will transfer the EdCredits to the student. A Distributor can transfer EdCredits to his dealers using “Transfer credits” inside dealers or distributors lampaglow login, they can click on the link and by selecting Dealer and enter the EdCredits to be alloted, then click on the transfer button will transfer the EdCredits to the Dealer.

CA-IPCC

Q. What is Integrated Professional Competence Course (IPCC)?

Ans. Integrated Professional Competence Course (IPCC) is the first stage of the Chartered Accountancy course in India. In IPCC curriculum only working knowledge of core and allied subjects to accountancy profession is instilled. The unique feature of the entire theoretical education of the Chartered Accountancy curriculum is the supportive and complementary practical training. A student would undergo theoretical education and 3 years of practical training after passing Group-I of IPCC.

Q. What is Study Package?

Ans. A study package is a comprehensive package provided by the Board of Studies comprising of study material of all subjects, revisionary test papers and suggested answers to the questions set in various examinations, information technology training modules and training guide. Apart from the above, Institute also supplies IT Training materials and Orientation Course materials on registration to the courses.

Q. Shall I get the study materials on the same day on which prescribed registration forms are submitted?

Ans. Normally, students belonging to Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Kanpur and New Delhi are provided study materials on submission of the application form. Study materials are to be collected in person. For outstation students, study materials are sent by post which takes normal postal delivery time to reach the students.

Q. Is there any fee for undergoing oral coaching modules?

Ans. Yes, fee to be charged for different modules of oral coaching will be fixed by the accredited institutions.

Q. When can an IPCC student start his articled training?

Ans. Under IPCC, articled training starts on passing of Group-I of IPCC.

Ans. Student should pass minimum Group-I or Both groups of IPCC before starting his/ her articled training of 3 years. Please note that student who passes only Second Group cannot start his articled training. The duration of articled training is 3 years for candidates who directly register for IPCC. But for the students who were converted from Professional Competence Course to IPCC it is 3 1?2 years.

Q. What is the entitlement of leave of an articled assistant?

Ans. An articled assistant shall earn leave at the rate of one-sixth of the period for which he has actually served excluding from such period, the period for which he has been on leave subject to a maximum of 180 days.

Q. What is industrial training? What are the objectives of Industrial training?

Ans. It is a training scheme by which a student can undergo practical training within an approved industrial undertaking having specified amount of fixed assets or turnover or paid–up share capital. The period of such industrial training may range between 9-12 months during the last year of the prescribed period of practical training. Only students of Final chartered accountancy course are eligible for industrial training.

Q. What is secondment exchange in the context of articleship training?

Ans. In order to expose the trainees at large to multi–disciplinary work variety of business situations, the arrangement of secondment under articleship training is provided by which an articled assistant can work under a different member of the Institute.

Q. What is the eligibility criterion to appear in the Integrated Professional Competence Course (IPCC) Examination?

Ans. (1) A candidate shall be admitted for the first time to Integrated Professional Competence Course (IPCC) Examination if he: (a) has enrolled for the Integrated Professional Competence Course from the concerned Regional Office; (b) produces a certificate to the effect that he has undergone a study course, for a period not less than nine months as on the first day of the month in which the examination is held; (2) He shall pay such examination fee as may be fixed by the Council. (3) The subjects of IPCC are classified into two groups. Student can study and appear in the examination group-wise or both the groups together.

Q. What is Information Technology Training (ITT)? When will it commence?

Ans. Under IPCC scheme of Education, Training and Examination students have to undergo ITT during the study course period of IPCC. They have to complete it before commencement of articleship

Q. Who will conduct this training?

Ans. The 100 Hours ITT training would be provided in the ICAI computer labs located in different parts of the country i.e. in regional offices and branches of the ICAI.

Q. Is there any separate fees for undergoing the IT Training?

Ans. Yes. As of now, a fee of Rs. 4000/- would be charged by the concerned regional office/ accredited branch.

Q. Will the Board of Studies provide any study materials for ITT?

Ans. Yes. The Board of Studies provides a set of study modules along with CDs covering various topics of the ITT which a student should study while undergoing the training. This will be made available along with the study materials.

Q. Is there any exemption available from ITT to students who convert from PE-II/PCC?

Ans. Students who have already undergone 250 hours Compulsory Computer Training under PE-II course or students who have undergone 100 hours Information Technology Training under PCC are exempted from IT training in IPCC. Intermediate students who have converted/ are now converting to IPCC have to undergo IT training if they have not undergone the same earlier. They need to produce ITT completion certificate at the time of registration of Final course. (For details, please refer to question no. 35 related to relaxation allowed to erstwhile students of PE-II, PCC, Intermediate)

Q. What is Orientation Programme? Is it compulsory? What are the contents covered in Orientation Programme?

Ans. Orientation Programme is a programme organized by the Board of Studies to orient students of IPCC to the CA course. It is of about one week’s period (consisting of 35 hours) and is compulsory. A student of IPCC needs to undergo this programme before joining the Articled training. In Orientation Programme student are taught minimum basic requirements regarding Office Procedures, Communication Skills, Business Environment, General Commercial Knowledge and Personality development to groom the future member of the Institute. It is conducted at all our regional offices and at almost all branches of the Institute. As of now, fee for the Orientation Programme is Rs. 3000/- which is separate from registration fee for Orientation Programme.

Q. Is any exemption available to students who passed either of the groups in erstwhile Intermediate/ PEE-II/ PCE and converted for IPCC/ATC?

Ans. Yes. Candidates who passed earlier either of the group under erstwhile Intermediate under para 2A of schedule B/ PEE-II/ PCE are required to appear and pass the remaining paper under IPCC Unit Scheme as the case may be to pass the Integrated Professional Competence Course (IPCC).

Q. Whether students who have joined PE-II on the basis of their degree examination, have the option of switching over to IPCC?

Ans. Students who registered for PE-II on the basis of their graduation/ degree can very well convert to IPCC as per the provisions of the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988.

CA Course

Q. What is CA?

Ans. CA is Chartered Accountant. This course is conducted by The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, the professional accountancy body of the country, established in 1949, under the Chartered Accountants, 1949, enacted by the Parliament to regulate the profession of Chartered Accountancy in India. The Institute has its head quartered at New Delhi and 104 Branches spread all over the country and many other branches outside India.

Q. Who can do CA?

Ans. Any one can join after clearing Xth and take admission at CA institute but he can appear for CA exams only after appearing in XIIth. To illustrate this point suppose a student clears Xth in June 2007, then he can join CA soon after he got the marks sheets etc. but he can appear in CA entrance exam (known as CA CPT) only after appearing in XIIth i.e. in May 2009. Even non- commerce students can join CA.

Q. What is the duration of entire course?

Ans. After the recent changes, now it is only 3& 1?2 years from the clearance of CA entrance known as CA - CPT examination.

Q. What are the stages of completion of CA?

Ans. There are three stages to clear the exam: Stage I : Appear & clear the CA entrance exam - CA CPT (common proficiency test) Stage II : Join article training With a CA in practice, join 100 hours compulsory computer training after three months of training & also clear CA Inter, now known as CA PCC (professional competence exam) after specified period of Article Training. Stage III : After completion of training appear in CA final & become a CA after clearing exams & few other formalities including General Management & communication skills course 15 days course only.

Q. From where to do article training?

Ans. It can be done from any CA firm in practice. As such there is no specific requirements regarding this. A student can very well choose, from where he wants to do the training.

Q. What is the passing % for various stages ? What is the normal result as we have heard that the result is only 2%?

Ans. 50% marks are required to clear exams at any stage of CA examination. At PCC & final stage minimum 40% is required in each paper & overall 50%. That CA results are only 2% is only a myth. Normally results vary from city to city, exam to exam. But still normally results are well above 40-50%. Moreover CA CPT exams are on every quarterly basis. So even if a student could not clear then he has another chance just in few months.

Q. Can a non commerce student do CA ?

Ans. Yes, CA institute does not impose any such restriction. In the past we have seen many science students are able to become Chartered Accountants.

Q. Can we do CA in Hindi medium?

Ans. Yes. But practically most of the work after completion of CA shall be in English, so it is better to do CA with English medium.

Q. Can any other professional course like CS, ICWA etc. be done along with CA?

Ans. As only one course can be done along with CA, so practically all these cannot be done.

Q. What is the registration fee for CA CPT & CA PCC / Final courses?

Ans. For CA CPT it is only 1,600 including prospectus. Fees are Rs. 7,500 at CA PCC & Rs. 8,500 at CA Final level.

Q. If we are already Graduate/ post graduate / CS / ICWA etc. whether we are eligible for any exemption in any paper or group?

Ans. No. You have to clear all the papers of CA.

Q. What is the expected duration of each course?

Ans. For CPT, the duration of course is approx 3 1?2 months, 3 - 4 hours per day, six days a week. For PCC the duration is approx 6 - 7 months for a batch of 2 hours duration, three days a week and it is approx three months for a four hour duration batch.

Q. Whether assignments shall be provided by the coaching institute?

Ans. Yes. For all subjects the assignments shall be provided in booklet form, which will be comprehensive enough to score full marks in exams.

Q. How to plan the day so that there is no pressure on the student?

Ans. Students should join morning tuitions and then go article training or college. Similarly in the evening tuitions can be joined. It is not impossible but extremely tough to join the three things simultaneously namely, tuitions, article training & regular college. So as CA is very important, option of non-collegiate for girls, or evening college options should be considered.

Ans. The syllabus of Hons. Exams matches with CA. So if the student is hard working enough he should go for B.Com Hons. If you are choosing correspondence course then B. com pass option is better.

Q. Whether to go for Regular or correspondence?

Ans. Along with article training it is really tough to do regular college. So it is better to do article training in a good CA firm & do B.Com from Correspondence.

Q. What is the frequency of exams ?

Ans. CA CPT exams are four times a year in Feb, May, Aug & Nov. CA PCC & Final exams are two times in a year in May & Nov.

Q. When is the result declared?

Ans. CA CPT results are declared within 20 - 30 days of exam. CA PCC & final exams results are declared after two months of exam completion date.

Q. What if the student is weak?

Ans. He has to take some individual help & get his basics clear. Hard work is any way the key to success

Q. Whether classes can be taken even before registration with CA institute?
